A Day Late and a Dollar Short
Not being a habitual watcher of FOX News or a listener of AM radio (since I'm under the age of 60), I'm not in tune with the rantings and ravings of the Right. But I've got to give the "Day Late and Dollar Short" award to Glenn Beck, for this statement:
"I beg you, look for the words ’social justice’ or ‘economic justice’ on your church website. If you find it, run as fast as you can!"
Yes, Mr. Beck. With 30 million people unemployed and homeless people by the millions and one in seven people in need of food assistance, everyone's gonna run away from the words "economic justice" like a swarm of locusts.
This is what's called being a day late and and dollar short. Shoulda peddled that crap in the 90s, when people were listening to it.

Beck spoke at CPAC....people ARE listening to it, and the Right is going to regain it's voter mandate again, and people will continue listening to it. Beck's show is hugely popular, as well as a number of other modern day priests of violent and petty discourse.
If you think people don't listen to that crap, Ted, I really question your relationship with the social reality of America today.
I don't understand the attraction or the shelf life of Glenn Beck. Were it not for references to his words in the general media, I'd never voluntarily read his divisive, fear-mongering bullshit. As for those who publish Beck's words with the idea of exposing his scam, give it up. People who follow Beck and Rush Limbaugh and similar millionaires who pander to fear, bigotry and ignorance will never see nor accept that they've been flim-flammed. Such people are the same as the Slim Picken character in "The Flim-Flam Man," who run off with a bag of shredded paper thinking they've scored an easy bag of money. They'll never admit their greed, avarice, stupidity, ignorance, intolerance and duplicity with the Party of NO in tearing down our Constitution, bit by bit, so that it can be replaced with the Christian Bible.
Republicans are misanthropic, this isn't new
Beck is half right. Run away from the churches, but become an atheist and really promote justice!
Glenn Beck is a moron for sure, but the term "social justice" is a misnomer. There is no justice that isn't social: Robinson Crusoe and Tarzan certainly didn't need any justice.
What some people mean by "social justice" is actually just socialist "wealth redistribution", although that is another misnomer, 'cause it wasn't "distributed" in the first place. Supporting that has nothing to do with philanthropy, just like opposing it has no relation to misanthropy.
An aside,
I am under 60 and still listen to AM radio.
Of course, Rhode Island being Rhode Island, our NPR station is on the AM dial.
Someday we will move into the 20th century.
Aggie,
How can you have an opinion of a show you've never watched?
Lot's of vitriolic hatred towards Beck and Limbaugh. Yet not one example of what you accuse them of. lot's of hateful personal attacks. I doubt for a minute that any of you watch or listen to Limbaugh or Beck. You spout whatever Media Matters of DailyKos tells you to spout. try using your brains and form an opinion after watching.
Republicans are misanthropic, this isn't new I'll assume you meant conservatives. Conservatives believe in people's individual ability to run their own lives and take care of themselves. We don't believe Barry and Nancy and Harry can do a better job of it.
I listened to Rush Limbaugh years ago when my favorite, local radio station decided to go to all-talk and replace the djs I had enjoyed. I didn't know who the ranting, hateful, bile-spewing nutcase was, but he certainly wasn't informative or entertaining. I later learned he was a man named Rush Limbaugh. In the intervening years, nothing about Limbaugh has changed. My opinion of him hasn't changed. He and Glenn Beck are perverted phenomenons of our free society that allows borderline verbal terrorists to not only speak openly, but to be paid millions of dollars by wealthy carpetbaggers, leeches on American society and economy, religious zealots and ideologues who couldn't care less for the welfare of our less-fortunate citizens, who constantly rant about their precious tax dollars, but live lives totally opposite the bullshit Conservative jibe they pollute our airwaves and publications with. If they got what they wanted, they would quickly learn that what they wanted isn't what they wanted, but they wouldn't care, because their ill-gotten gains will have protected them with body guards and remote palatial estates with high fences and exotic security systems. This is how the wealthy and powerful monarchies lived hundreds of years ago behind castle walls and moats. Sooner or later, the corrupt in our society have to venture outside their walls, and they will come in contact with the people they defrauded. When Rush Limbaugh stops taking his pills, the drugs that keep him from focusing on the reality of his pathetic, lonely life, he will most assuredly eat his handgun or shotgun. Legions of drooling dittoheads will erect memorials to the biggest waste of human life in the latter part of the 20th Century and the new millemium. Glenn Beck also continues to talk, but never says anything of substance. The people who listen to Beck every day also have no lives. One doesn't have to listen to Limbaugh and Beck and Coulter and the rest of the current media of hate and division every day in order to know and express an opinion on how useless and destructive they are. If you love Limbaugh and Beck, go ahead. Continue to crawl up their asses. You think they'd actually sit down and have a beer with the likes of you? Oh, ha HA!
"Aggie,
How can you have an opinion of a show you've never watched?"
I never claimed to watch it, and I didn't give an opinion of it, I merely stated that it is hugely popular, which is evidenced by the viewership it gets. This is something Fox News proudly states, it is not an opinion.
Anon 3/17/10 1:40 PM,
You made my point. Lot's of hate and name calling on your part. Yet you didn't site one example.
Anonymous 3:58,
I had Rush Limbaugh figured out way back in 1992. He and the other neo-cons basically believe that "Might Equals Right". And that has not changed to this day.
Incitatus,
You are absolutely wrong that wealth is not distributed. It's distributed at the point of a gun, or worse. I suggest that you read Naomi Klein's "The Shock Doctrine" to bring you out of the libertarian fantasy world that you are living in.

Actually we conservatives believe are rights are inalienable and given to us by God.
"Actually we conservatives believe are rights are inalienable and given to us by God."
"..are rights".....idiot.
