How many will admit they don't give a rat's ass about the SuperBowl, Avatar, etc?
Depression-Era people looked depressed, starved, undernouished, and had little energy to make signs and to demonstrate. Ever notice how healthy and well-dressed the young people demonstrating look? Some even open their mouths wide enough to display expensive dental braces.
The best way to know who's hurting is to begin with home and family. Katie Couric hasn't been knocking on my door, though.

If the wall was built to prevent suicide bombings, it would've been built on the 1967 Green Line. It would NOT have been built between the Palestinians and their own land.
Furthermore, Katie Couric hasn't been knocking at the Palestinians' door, either. I got these photographs from a UK website. We Americans have to accept the fact that we don't have a free press anymore. All we have are blogs, which are the equivalent of what standing on a soapbox used to be.
Other than a few lucky scoops, blogs are written by a subculture of gossips and journalistic wannabees. If an essay begins with "Trust me," I know I'm dealing with a talent-challenged motormouth with gumption and style, but little substance.
The UK and BBC, for all the myths of their 'fair and balanced' news reporting, still haven't gotten over us Yanks invading their island during WWII and playing house with their women. Politically-correct American anglophiles jump at every opportunity to bash the American media, which deserves criticism, but not bashing. Contrary to the comments of keyboard revolutionaries, America does have a free press. Unless a person shops at the same exact store every single day of his/her life, then complains there's no competition out there.
What is all this "Avatar" nonsense anyway? I don't watch television, so I really don't know what the fuck everybody is talking about...
It's a completely false dichotomy anyway, the Palestinians are not exactly a bunch of boy scouts either. Their supporters are basically either bored rich kids as alluded to earlier, or Jihadi symps. Screw 'em.
Actually I'm beyond annoyed and getting into "pretty bored" territory with the way the Left, which has far better things to do, have hitched their wagon to the cause of a bunch of right wing fundamentalist terrorist assholes.
If they want peace they can start by stopping the missile attacks and suicide bombs, and maybe tone down the anti-Semitic rhetoric as well.
Same goes for the other side of course. It takes two to tango.
Don't a be tool of these assholes. They're responsible for their own actions.

To the second Anon, there were plenty of protests in the depression. They were usually met with machine gun fire and not talked about in the news.
For instance, the "Bonus Army" of WWI vets cheated of their benefits. General Pershing himself led their massacre.
However, even he had some scruples. When a collection of ultra rich approached him to lead a private army to overthrow America and make a fascist state modeled after Hitler's Germany, he refused and exposed their treason to Congress. None were prosecuted, but it's alleged the "New Deal" was pushed through a lot easier because Roosevelt could hang the threat of Treason charges over their heads.
The whole thing smacks as an Israeli fabrication. Palestinian girs wouldn't and dare not parade around with such short mini skirts that their panties almost showing.
The Palestinian poeple is really suffering under the Israeli brutality and have no energy and resources for such nonsense.
This was targeted at Americans, who apparently find big blue smurfs more sympathetic than Arabs.
It was Douglas MacArthur, not Pershing, who organized the 'dispersal' of WWI Veterans and their tent city.
A war economy won't 'save' the USA anymore, because we've allowed a war economy to become the norm. The war profiteers, their bought lawmakers and the army of lobbyists are laughing all the way to the bank as if they didn't share the same air as their victims. When the shit hits the fan, these same crooks will be planning to steal the wood from their neighbors' fences to keep their home fires burning. In this respect, the 2nd Amendment is kind of cool. You can tell this particular enemy by the large yellow stripes down their backs.

People are tired of conflating any criticism of Israel and its atrocities and injustice toward the Palestinian peopel with antisemitism.
That has become an old trite song and people are tired of hearing it and are not dancing to it anymore.

These are mostly males who dressed up like this, although if you click the link to the website, there are some girls as well.
This particular group of Palestinians work with Israeli and international solidarity groups, so they would have the means provided for such costumes.
I should also note that West Bank Palestinians are doing much better economically then Gazan Palestinians, because the economic blockade of the Gaza strip. This "Na'vi" protest is in the West Bank.

Although many members of these Israeli and International solidarity groups are sincere, I am sure these groups are infilterated with insidious and very clever agents provcateurs from the Israeli government.
It is very likely that some of these agents provocateurs have reached leadership and key positions within these groups.
You know Hemlock, it's hard to believe you are a postal worker.
BTW your salary is paid for by right wingers as you call them. Considering how much you government sloths make compared to the work you do, you should be on your knees thanking every tax payer for your pay and benefits.
Here's a good thought experiment.
Don't try to imagine that you ARE wrong; that will only whip up righteous hostility and get us nowhere.
But in a quiet moment when you are feeling relaxed and your mind is the closest it ever gets to being open to systemic thought, try to imagine what might follow IF you were wrong.

Of course you have the right to disagree with HemlockMan, but please don't insult and belittle the Post Office and the postal workers because they are doing an excellent efficient job.
I have been using the mail for 45 years and only one letter someone claimed he didn't receive it!.
A person sends a letter from NY to LA and it arrives after a couple of days for mere lousy 44 cents and you cann't beat that!
What are you complaining about?! I bet you want to privatise the post office and hand it to one of your beloved corporations.!
I am not a current or former postal worker and I have no relatives or friends who work in the post office.

If you watched the clip you would have noticed the Israeli cops/border guards started throwing smoke grenades first; all the protesters did was shake the fence (probably to get their attention.) Notice that all the "blue-skinned" people were unarmed, and the only "arms" they had were the smoke grenades they threw back. Notice also they had what looked like an Israeli citizen (the old guy in the black cap), who shouted at the cops/border guards in HEBREW, and they still threw flash-bang grenades and smoke grenades. Whether you like it or not, your side pulled a Han Solo and shot first.
