Yes capitalism is grand considering Americans privatly and publicly donate more then any other country in the world.
That 15% you cite is depressingly true in a lot of cases. Worldwide, donations have topped $1 B, but you can't see that in the streets of Port au Prince as yet. I sent some cash to Doctors w/o Borders, trusting the claim that they spend more on actual aid and less on administration. Now I see that at least six of their cargo planes have been turned away from the airport. That single runway is apparently a beachhead for U.S. military and Xe security Forces.

That single runway is a "beachhead" for every single bit of aid arriving to that country. They are now running 130/landings and departures a day. Sorry if that isn't good enough for you.
And yet those donations pale in comparison to the excessive wealth that is funnelled to the economic elite in this country...decade after decade. Really all we are missing is a queen to exclaim, "Let them eat cake!"
