"It was a disaster. Like Bush, he didn't have anything new to say--just more of the same. There's no end in sight, no point to the carnage to come, and still no reason to be in Afghanistan. Obama reminds me of Nazi Germany. Here's how: Even at the bitter end, the Germans were using trains they needed to transport troops to the front for the Holocaust instead. It was pure insanity! The U.S. is dead broke, possibly on the way out, just like the USSR--and we're expanding an optional war? What the hell is wrong with Obama? What the hell is wrong with us for putting up with him?"
That was the response I got from Ted Rall when I asked him for his thoughts on President Obama's address about Afghanistan this week. A provocative statement to say the least, but Rall is quite accustomed to saying things that people may not want to hear.

Interesting, the pompous little twit/emperor without clothes, Richard M. Daley, Mayor of Chicago, is doing pretty much the same thing with his city's budget and future. Daley's a sanctimonious, as-yet-unindicted supporter of business as usual in Chicago and as far as his corrupt, clout and nepotistic-infected tentacles reach in Illinois and Washington, D.C. Once the fix is in, there's really no real work to be done on the part of everyone who worships at the altar of Daley. Just wink and nod. People in the Daley loop of moral compromise know what to do, to whom to award contracts, provide jobs, look the other way. Daley's traditional business as usual, his house of cards, like everything else dishonest and compromised, will eventually fall, and fall hard. Perhaps Daley's Bullshit Baffles Brains has, indeed, infected the 'intellect' and better judgement of Barack Obama. We won't even be able to have a bumpy ride, because the tires will have gone flat, the tank empty of fuel, and Daley will take time off at his summer home in Michigan, or fly in yet another private jet to countries foreign, to get 'ideas' on how to further corrupt Chicago, disguised as innovation. Obama-Daley: the real 2008 ticket!
Provocative, my ass! It's obvious, common sense that one would have to be blind to miss. What troubles me is the cause of the blindness: is it mass delusion or mass stupidity? Don't know which is scarier, either
Mass delusion and mass stupidity aren't exactly mutually exclusive.
Hey man, as long as some sucker somewhere in the world is still buying T-bills, there's still MONEY ON THE TABLE, and we need to SPEND IT ALL!!
