I approved that one at the Ministry of Political Humor personally, Mr. Rall. What is the problem? If the cross-hatching is at fault, Mr. Locher will be sent to Camp X-Ray.

A Hershey Bar would have sufficed. But, if we convinced the Muslim world to convert to Christian (commercial) traditions, we could bomb Christmas Eve along with wedding parties. And the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air....!

It's a great comic but the dialogue seems to have been lost. Here's my guess on what's happening.
Soldier: "In my country, we celebrate the day the Prince of Peace was born in Israel by putting stars on top of trees."
Children: "Is that why you came to our country to kill our parents?"

I wonder where the kids parents are? Oh yeah they were 'unintentionally' killed by [insert US caused tragedy here]

That's revealing, so the mission in the Mid-east is to shove western values down their throats, how crusader-like.

It's not just stupid and gross, he's a hack. He copied himself: http://ftp.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/AMH/XX/MidEast/Lebanon-1982-1984/USMC-Lebanon82/img/USMC-Lebanon82-37.jpg

LOL! That is one twisted toon! Is that the scene right before the soldier kills the children?

Gotta love it when Ted further trashes people far more courageous than he is.

It's one thing to respect the institution of the military, it's another thing to fucking worship it. This cartoon and the other billion "support the troops" propaganda pieces are the reason why we have these wars. When we are afraid to criticize these people, we shouldn't be surprised when they go over to other countries and commit war crimes.

The kids said: "I hear you've been doing this since before we were born. We're just standing here wondering if you'll be doing it after we're dead."

@Y_S, saying as how the soldier is a blonde bloke and the kids are dark-haired wearing a kinda-scarf ... I think the insinuation is that the children are supposed to be west or central Asian, with a Muslim heritage. If they are ambiguous, then the cartoon fails.

Did you hotlink this? It appears to have broken. Apparently you have a lot more viewers than his server is used to dealing with.

Following J. A. Ludtke, I submit this; it's something better for X-mas time:

I think Ludtke said it best, all of you talking about "shoving western values" are reading too much in this simple-minded and horrible cartoon.

When I think "courageous," I think of Dick Locher. It took real balls to make that cartoon; I bet his mailbox is flooded with death threats.
It would have been more courageous to post a cartoon insulting Mohammad. That'll get you killed by a member of the religion of peace.

Another loving Jihadist:

A man has been shot and arrested by Danish authorities for allegedly attempting to break into the home of an infamous editorial cartoonist.

A 27-year-old Somali national was shot in the arm and arrested after attempting to enter the home of Danish editorial cartoonist Kurt Westergaard, according to wire reports from Agence-France Presse.

AFP reports the man was armed with an axe and a knife at the time of his arrest.
