Eight years into the war, we're determining the mission?

We believed our bodies belonged to the military until we did our military duty, conscripted or volunteer. Most of us didn't know we had "other priorities" as Dick Cheney did. I wouldn't know how it feels to look at a damaged Veteran and say, "I didn't go, but I respect you for defending our country. (Sucker!)" Like Professor Turgeson, I was THERE, up to my knees in rice paddies, going against Charlie, with guns that didn't work....!"
Today's troops and Veterans seem to feel the same indebtedness to our country, whether for simple patriotic motives or to fight the perceived global threat of terrorism (The USSR wasn't even CLOSE to the threat that was bored into our young minds in the 50s and 60s, but our propaganda ministers and war profiteers did a 'heckuva job' scaring the shit out of most every American citizen with fear tactics and outright lies, thank you, Pat Tillman).
Goodnight, Chesty, wherever you are.

A masterstroke, Ted.

In one panel you have explained why the US will never "win" in Afghanistan.

They got to be running out of volunteers, right?? I hope this cartoon makes the rounds in high schools. Time to bring back the "Question Authority" buttons again.

The reason for the war was to remove the Taliban from power and keep them out of power. The problem is that nobody expected to have to fight this war for so long.
