whoa! seriously? it was a wart? i thought it was gonna turn out to be a spider bite or something... and the root grew down THROUGH your ribs?? what the hell did it do, make an end-run around your sternum?
There's a typo on this page: it should say "What IF I refuse the treatment?" Just FYI. Otherwise I'm eager to pick this up when it comes out!
Man that is bizarre. Scary, but bizarre.
I'm really curious now to read the medical article that was written about this, esp. because in seeking out treatments for my own warts I've been told repeatedly by various doctors and websites that "warts don't actually have roots - they only grow on the top skin layer." So now I'm all confused. I don't suppose you remember the author and/or the journal...?
Ah, the good old days when you could get AIDS through a blood transfusion.
Geez, the only thing I remember about 1984 was that the Terminator came out.
Oh,man, THE WART! I had blocked that story from my mind.
There's probably not much you can do about it, but I'm having a hard time reading the text because of my old lady eyes. (And I am clicking to embiggen.)
I knew a guy something similar happened to:
He had a big wart on his arm. Couldn't feel it, but it was big and black and hurt a bit around it.
One day he was wiggling it and it just popped out. He was pretty noticable about looking under it he could see inside, for a half second. Then, since it was connected to a vein it hit the ceiling. So he was holding his arm as it was spraying blood and calling a friend to get him to the hospital.
The doctors didn't make a big deal out of it. They just sealed him up, told him of a few other times, and only billed him a few hundred.
I knew of a bloke who had an in-grown pube get down into his pelvic bone.
so ted, wouldn't it be cool if david lynch had somehow seen the medical journal where your case was written up, and that your wart was actually the inspiration for those heart plugs the harkonnen slaves had in dune? because i just realized, that's totally what this reminds me of.
too bad that movie didn't make any money, otherwise you could have tried to get him to admit he plagiarized your wart and kick you down a couple percentage points.
